Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-07-09

This Privacy Policy describes how Shift Click ("we", "us") handles information when you use the https://shft.cl/ website ("Service"), our browser extension, and related services. We do not require account registration, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or payment information to use the Service.

Information we collect

When you share or save an image. If you use Shift Click to extract, upload, or share an image, we receive the image URL, the web page you were on (referrer / page URL), page title, image metadata (such as alt text and dimensions), and technical context needed to fetch and store the image. This information is stored with the shared image so the Service can display it.

Technical and network data. When you interact with our servers, we receive basic technical information such as your IP address, approximate country (from network headers), browser type, language, screen characteristics, and similar device or browser signals sent by your client. We use this data to operate the Service, deliver content, maintain security, and enforce rate limits (for example, limiting too many uploads from the same IP address).

Extension storage on your device. Our browser extension may store a random anonymous identifier, a timestamp of its last connectivity check, and optional developer settings in chrome.storage.local on your device. This data stays on your device unless the extension sends it to our servers as part of a request.

Website storage on your device. The Service uses your browser's localStorage (not cookies) solely to enable features on your device. Its main purpose is storing ownership tokens that authenticate you as the creator of an image you shared (for example, to delete or manage it). We also use it locally for the History feature. We do not use localStorage to track you, build advertising profiles, or monitor your browsing for analytics. This data remains in your browser and is not sent to us as tracking cookies.

Extension heartbeat. The extension may send an occasional lightweight request to our servers to confirm connectivity. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, this heartbeat is not sent. Our server responds with the current time and does not store the request body.

How we use information

We use the information above to host and display shared images, operate the extension, prevent abuse, debug reliability issues, and improve the Service. We do not use this information to build individual user profiles or to identify you by name.

Anonymous usage statistics

We maintain aggregated, anonymous statistics about the Service (for example, total number of stored images and storage volume). These statistics do not include your name, email, or other direct identifiers and cannot reasonably be used to identify a specific person.

Cookies

We do not use cookies. Client-side features may use localStorage or extension storage as described above; those mechanisms are not HTTP cookies.

Third-party sharing

We do not sell your information. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. Network requests are processed by our hosting infrastructure solely to deliver the Service.

Data retention

Shared images and related metadata are retained while they remain available on the Service unless removed under our DMCA process, by the image owner, or by administrators for policy or legal reasons.

Your choices

You can clear website data by removing site data for https://shft.cl/ in your browser settings and by uninstalling the browser extension. You can limit extension connectivity checks by enabling Do Not Track in your browser.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
